News from The Principal
First of all, I would like to thank all of our participants this term, and say how much I’ve enjoyed teaching the workshops, and watching the children develop their confidence and skills as the term has progressed. Most of you have met me already – I travel down from Bath to teach at the Wimbledon workshops on Saturdays, and the enthusiasm and energy of the participants always make the long commute worthwhile!
This term I’ve been training up a panel of colleagues and tutors for the Wimbledon workshops, so I can offer more flexibility in terms of times and ages in the classes we can offer. With a background as a lawyer with over 18 years in University level education as a Principal Law Lecturer, and a PGCPE, I write the workshop activities in great detail, making sure that each activity
has a clear purpose, develops a particular skill, can be adapted to different age groups and has clear feedback for tutors to give.
My aim overall is to make sure that every child has the opportunity to speak up, to be able to analyse arguments and to try their hand at a range of skills, having fun in the meantime and forging new friendships.
